Planning a Kick-Ass Engagement Party

Planning a Kick-Ass Engagement Party

So he liked it so much that he put a ring on it. Congratulations! Before the wedding planning storm arrives, it is time to enjoy your engagement! Celebrate in style with your friends and family with a kick-ass engagement party. Here are some tips to help you make your party the best it can be.

When should you have it?

You don’t want to wait too long before you have your party. Otherwise it will cut into your valuable time for wedding planning. Try to host a party within the first 6 weeks of your engagement. Obviously this doesn’t leave loads of time to plan, but you don’t have to go all out. Remember this is only the engagement party and not the wedding. As long as you can have your friends and family there that is all that really matters.

Determine your budget

Even though this is likely to be a small event, you still want to stick to your budget. Figure out how much you want to spend, and then think about what you want to include in the party. Do you want an all day event, or just a few drinks with your loved ones? Does your idea of a good day fall in line with your budget?

Set the scene

Choose decor that suits you and your partner. If you had photographs taken specially for your engagement, decorate the room with them. Remember not to upstage your wedding, so any ideas that you do have for the actual wedding, try to hold back on going all out on them. Save them for later. Instead, you can use a diluted form of your ideas. How about smaller flowers too? If you wanted to go for a theme, don’t let everything meet this theme. Just have a few splashes of it thrown in to catch people’s interest.

Will there be food?

Depending on how formal the party is, you may or may not choose to serve food. Some couples decide on a large sit-down dinner with four courses. Others opt for a few drinks at the local pub. Whatever you choose, people will always get peckish so try to include some sort of finger foods if you don’t do a big meal.

Be prepared to show off the bling

It is a guarantee that every person who comes to the party is going to want to see your engagement ring. It comes with the territory. From Whiteflash designer engagement rings to more modest pieces of jewellery, don’t be afraid to show it off. Flaunt your bling with pride.

Use the party to announce your wedding date

If you do happen to know the date, or in fact a rough time period, when you are planning on getting married, be sure to mention this to your guests. You can make sure they are able to block off this date for the future and make sure all your friends can attend.

Have fun

This is a really great moment, so don’t get too caught up in the party planning. Just make sure that you are enjoying your time with your partner and your loved ones.
