Becoming a More Positive Influence in Your Community

Becoming a More Positive Influence in Your Community

Unless you live on island out in the middle of nowhere, you are going to have people around you. From family and friends, to neighbors and acquaintances, there are so many people that you are going to come into contact with. You can have an influence on their lives, just as they can have an influence on your life. So it is a good idea to make sure that you are leaving positivity in your wake, rather than negativity or destruction.

If you are looking for ways to get more involved with your community, then you’ve come to the right place. Being able to be a light to others and serving people around you is what being a believer in Jesus is all about. Here are some things that you can do to have a positive impact on your community, as well the people that surround you.

Reach Out with Compassion

We all lead busy lives, so it can be easy to just go through the motions and focus on what you are needing. But if you want to be more like Jesus, then you need to take time to slow down a little to focus on the things that matter most. And the things that matter most are caring for others and seeing them with compassionate eyes. If there are people that are sick or lonely, just calling in to say hi or to offer help can mean the world of difference to them.

Respect

It takes all sorts of people to make the world and communities that we live in a better place. And with that in mind, it also takes respect of those people in your community to make the world a better place, no matter who they are or what their beliefs are. They may go to a different place of worship to you, like the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God or the local Mosque, but practice what you preach and do with love, tolerance, and respect. If everyone was to do that, amazing things would start to happen.

Volunteer and Contribute

The communities that we live in are likely to be varied and diverse. From schools, to homeless shelters or stores, there are lots of ways to get involved to help. You may not be able to donate money or goods, but your time can be all that is needed. You could help with a community event, you could organize a soup kitchen or take part in a charity drive collecting clothes for those less fortunate. Whatever it is, just make sure that you contribute and join in, doing whatever you can.

Be a Positive Example

People in your community are going to see you regularly, and if they see someone that is down, angry, or frustrated a lot of the time, then it can have a knock-on impact. Not to mention that people may just want to avoid you. So be cheerful, smile, and be positive. Say hello to people and it will be like a breath of fresh air in your community.
