Beyond the Beaches: Incredible Ways to Experience Costa Rica

Beyond the Beaches Incredible Ways to Experience Costa Rica

Costa Rica has been recognized in the past as one of the happiest countries in the world. While, like any country, it has its problems, its people often report high levels of happiness. So what is it about Costa Rica that makes the locals so full of joy and contentment? Perhaps there’s only one way to find out, and that’s visiting the country for yourself. Situated in Central America, bordering Nicaragua and Panama, it has been a popular spot for travelers for a while. If you want to experience what the country has to offer, you can enjoy a range of activities that will leave you feeling jubilant.

Get Active

If there’s one spectacular thing no one should miss out on when visiting Costa Rica, it’s the beautiful scenery. Of course, there are the stunning beaches, where you could choose to spend your days sunbathing. But beyond that, there’s much more to see, from jungles and rivers to mountains and volcanoes. While you could experience all of this with various modes of transport, the best way to see it all is to get active. You can do everything from hiking to snorkeling. You have the opportunity not just to see the nature Costa Rica has to offer but to be part of it too.

Give Your Time

Some people feel like their travel experiences need to have meaning. Perhaps you don’t want to spend your days on the beach when you know there are ways you could be helping people. If you want to have valuable experiences and contribute to the local community, you could volunteer in Costa Rica. There are several different types of volunteer project you can take on, depending on what you’re passionate about. You could work with children, teaching them English or providing other education services. Or if the environment is more your thing, you could join a conservation project.

Stay with Locals

Getting a real picture of a country is difficult when you’re only visiting. You know you’re not going to see it the same way that a local does. In fact, that may be impossible, even if you decide to stay for a long time. However, you can get closer to understanding what Costa Rica is really like for the people who live there. One thing you can do is arrange a homestay and spend your time in Costa Rica with a local family. You’ll get a chance to experience the culture, speak Spanish, and enjoy some local cuisine.

Pamper Yourself

You might prefer a more easygoing experience. If you like to sit back and soak up the sun, Costa Rica is a great place to indulge. There are excellent hotels and spas to choose from, where you can spend your days getting massages or facials. Lounging on the beach with a cocktail in your hand might be something you can do in many other places, but Costa Rica is one of the best places for it.

If you’re considering a trip to Costa Rica, think about how you want to experience the country. Of course, you don’t have to do it in just one way.
