To impress your date, it’s crucial that when it comes to your makeup that you think things through. To help you get your makeup spot on, we thought that we’d share a few useful tips. Hopefully, these will help you to perfect your makeup and feel happier with your date night look.

Prep and prime your skin

Before you do anything, shower and exfoliate your face. Exfoliating removes any dead, dry skin cells, leaving your skin soft and supple. It also helps to give your skin a beautiful natural glow, so before a date is a must-do. Once you’ve exfoliated, the next step is to smother your face in moisturizer. This will ensure that throughout the night, your skin stays hydrated.

Once your moisturizer has soaked in, it’s time to prime. Using a primer that’s ideal for your skin type, apply a small amount. Primer helps to blur imperfections and evens out your skin texture and tone. It’s also great for keeping your makeup in place, as it acts as a glue.

Follow up with concealer and your favorite base

The next step is to pop on a small amount of concealer. If you suffer from dark bags, it’s crucial that you use concealer to hide them. Using a concealer brush, dot a small amount of the product under your eyes, on the eyelids, and on any other imperfections. Make sure to blend it in, so that it looks as natural as possible.

When it comes to your main base, you have a choice of tinted moisturizer, BB cream and foundation, what you opt to use is up to you. However, unless you need heavy coverage, it’s best to steer clear of foundation and instead opt for a BB cream, as this will give you a more natural look. To ensure that you have no lines, using a foundation brush, buff the product into your skin. To ensure that makeup stays in place for as long as possible, the next step is to dust a small amount of setting powder onto your face.

Blush and bronze your skin

Next up, it’s blusher time. Using a blusher brush, apply a small amount of blusher to the apples of your cheeks and then blend subtly downwards. This will give your skin a healthy, natural-looking glow.

Follow this by sweeping bronzer on your forehead, down under your cheekbones and then under your cheek in a three shape. Make sure not to use a bronzer that’s too dark, else you’ll look over contoured.

Focus on your eyes

The next area to focus on is your eyes — this can be one of the longest tasks so make sure to leave enough time. Start off by popping a little eye primer on your lids. Follow this by sweeping eyeshadow across them, before using a blending brush to subtly blend it in. To add a little definition, add a slightly darker shadow shade to the crease of your eyelid and blend out.

Once you’ve got your eyeshadow spot on, focus on your lashes. You can use mascara to make them appear longer and more voluminous, or you can use fake eyelashes. If you’ve never used fakies before don’t panic, you can find out all about fake eyelashes online. Including the best ones to use, how to apply them, and how to remove and clean them.

The next step is to highlight under your brow bone and in each corner of your eye. This will help to open up your eyes, making them look beautifully big.

Follow this with the eyeliner or your choice. If you want to keep your liner in place for as long as possible, it’s best to opt for a waterproof liner. Ideally, a liquid one, as this tends to stay in place more easily and looks nicer too.

Take note of these makeup tips and you can ensure that come date night, you’ll look and feel fabulous.
