Could You Be Alcohol Dependent?

Alcohol dependence is classed as somebody who is physically or psychologically dependent on alcohol. They can vary slightly from alcoholics, who usually drink all times of day, starting in the morning and even drinking before work. An alcohol dependent person may feel as if they need a drink after work every day, maybe to help them sleep or de-stress. They might not drink to the extreme that alcoholics do, but that doesn’t make it any less of a problem. Here are some signs you could be alcohol dependent and what you can do about them:

You Worry About Where Your Next Drink Will Come From

You Have A Compulsive Need To Have A Drink

Do you ever feel a compulsive need to drink? Suddenly, out of nowhere, the feeling of wanting to drink just takes over and won’t go away? This is another sign you could be dependent on alcohol, whether it’s because you’re stressed, bored, or for another reason entirely. Alcohol never makes these situations better!

You Find It Hard To Stop Once You Start Drinking

Having a couple of drinks here and there doesn’t hurt, but if you find it hard to stop once you start, this is another sign of a problem. You should be able to control yourself around alcohol, and know when you’ve had enough. If you drink yourself into oblivion each time you start drinking, this isn’t a great sign.

You Suffer From Withdrawal Symptoms When You Stop Drinking

If you stop drinking and suffer from withdrawal symptoms, this is another big sign of a problem. Different people experience different signs, but a common sign is the shakes. If this sounds like you, then you need to do something about it!

What To Do About It

Consider enrolling in the Drink Less, Live More program and try to change your relationship with alcohol, permanently, to live a better life, Whether you’re looking to drink less to simply be healthier or lose weight, or you’re drinking too much in order to cope with life’s challenges, this program was scientifically designed to help.

Visit A Support Group

The first thing you can do is look for an online program support group in your area and pay it a visit. This can be difficult, as it means admitting you have a problem, and then remaining accountable to do something about it. These groups can be extremely helpful, as you get the support of people who are going through the same thing, as well as things like AA coins that can keep you focused and on track.

Replace Alcohol With Something Healthy

Try to replace alcohol with something healthy, like running or yoga. This will have such an amazing effect on your health, and it gives you something positive to focus on.

Keep Track Of What You Drink

When you do drink (if this is a good idea), keep track of it. Don’t kid yourself into thinking you’re drinking less than you are. Maybe use an app to help you.

Have Alcohol-free Days

Having alcohol-free days through the week is so much healthier than drinking every single day. Designate days to staying alcohol free and you’ll feel so much better.
