5 Things to Buy Before Your Baby is Born

I’m sure everyone you know has already been telling you how expensive it is to have a baby and raise a child. Well, you’re about to find out just how expensive! You have to start buying items before you even give birth. That’s just the way it is. Here are 5 things you’ll need to buy first:

Car Seat

Transporting a child in a car requires a specific seat that is fitted correctly. You can’t simply do transport them in any old seat. It has to be designed for the age of your child for optimal safety. And adult seat belts can obviously not offer anything in the way of safety for a child or baby. So, invest in the correct baby seat, and don’t opt for a cheap option. There are other car items, such as sun shades, that will be useful too.

Pushchair

There are so many different options when you’re looking for a pram or pushchair for your baby. This is reason enough not to leave your purchase until the last minute. This only leads to you making a rushed decision, and that’s not what you want. The pram or pushchair you get should allow the baby to lie flat because this helps to protect their growing spine. Also, check how much weight the pram or pushchair can carry before making the purchase.

Moses Basket

A cheap Moses basket should also be purchased as soon as possible. These are great for letting your baby sleep in for the first couple of months. Many people say it is better than putting them straight in a large cot. They are also great for naps during the day, so you will get plenty of use out of yours. It can even be used as a travel cot as well. It’s one of those essential purchases that will make life as a parent easier and less stressful for you in those first few months.

Bath Time Essentials

It’s important to make plans for bath time because babies have very delicate skin. A specific baby wash is essential, rather than an ordinary soap or shampoo. You can buy a large bath bowl when they’re small. Or other people simply use the kitchen sink. Make sure you get soap-free products and check the pH level. It should be pH5.5. Then get some soft towels to use to dry them with. And finally, it might be a good idea to buy some Vaseline to treat any rashes they get and comfortable baby bedding.

Changing Table

Changing nappies over and over is soon going to be a big part of your daily routine. It’s one of those dirty jobs that are inescapable for parents. So, it’s best to be properly prepared for it. Obviously, you should have a large stock of nappies in the home before the baby arrives. And a changing table is just as important. You can buy these pretty cheaply, and they will make the whole process a lot easier for you. You should also get a changing mat for extra protection.
