Don’t Settle For A Home You Don’t Like!

Don't Settle For A Home You Don't Like

How exciting is it when you know you’re moving home. Nothing will beat the excitement of moving home when it’s your first time, but even the times after that will give you just as much of a thrill. It’s the same feeling when you know you’re getting a new car, or a new phone. It’s just something new and fun to play with, and the excitement of it all can lead to some bad decisions. If you know you’re desperate to get out of the house that you’re in at the minute, or perhaps this is your first move and you know you need to get out of your parents home quickly, we would definitely recommend taking some time to make the right decision. You might not even realize it at the time, but you could be settling for a home that you just won’t like in the future. The excitement and rush of it all can cloud your vision, and it won’t be until things have calmed down a little that you understand the mistake you’ve made! So, we’re here to tell you how you can make sure you don’t settle for a home you don’t like, and go for one you absolutely love.

Write Yourself A Checklist

If you have a checklist to stick to, it’s going to be so much easier to find that home that you can actually settle in. Even if a few years down the line you decide to move, it doesn’t matter. We know that views change, but the thing we’re trying to avoid is you getting to your new home, and realising a few months later that it just wasn’t for you. So, this is what we think the perfect checklist looks like, but you can adjust yours accordingly:

  • Three Rooms
  • Two bathrooms upstairs and a toilet downstairs
  • Kitchen
  • Dining room
  • Spacious living room
  • Garden facing the sun
  • Modern
  • Price range within…
  • In a quiet street

But your idea of what will suit you will be different, but we think the things we’ve listed are a good baseline.

Fill It With Things You Love

Your home has to be filled with everything that’s going to make you happy. If you’re moving from your own home already, then things are going to be so much cheaper for you. All you need to do is look at companies such as Two Men And a Truck, and see how much it’s going to cost you to get your belongings from one place to another! If you’re moving for the first time, just have a look at Pinterest to get an idea of how you would like to decorate your home. Then, walk around your local home store and see what you can find that’s similar!

Don’t Stop Until You’ve Found The One!

Our final note would be to make sure you don’t stop until you find the one. Make sure you’re looking at all your options, and drag out the process if you have to. Unless there is a real rush to move, there’s no reason why you can’t take your time to find the right one!
