Overview
The Acura NSX is the flagship car of the company. It sits at the top of the product range of Acura. Even though the base price of the car is high, it has a mid-level engine. It is an all-wheel-drive with a mid-engine and a few flaws which do not put it at the top of the buyers’ choice. The car is technologically sound and the performance can be enhanced too if it is tweaked in the right manner.
Engine and Transmission
The car comes fitted with a 3.5L Turbocharged V6 engine and three motors. The first motor is used to assist the engine and the other two motors are used for the front axle for traction control and better handling. The chassis is made of the mix of aluminum and steel. The important quality of NSX is that, even though is it a sports car, it is an easy drive for an everyday commute too. Design
The NSX is a rather striking looking car, although looks are highly subjective. If you like mean, sharp looking cars, then this car is right up your alley. If you prefer a more classy approach, then you might be a little disappointed. Although considering that the NSX has a hybrid powertrain, one which claims to be the future of motoring, the futuristic design suits the car a lot.
Interior
Getting in and out of the car is easy for shorter people. The taller drivers and the passengers will have to bend down a bit to enter. The leather seats make it easy for the passengers to slide in. The seat cushion cannot be adjusted in the terms of angle or height. This makes it a little uncomfortable sometimes. However, for the driver, it is easy to find a position quickly. The seat bolsters are designed in such a way that they do not interfere with the driving position. The aggressively contoured steering wheel feels natural while driving.
The climate control feature is not really easy to use. However, the view from the driver’s position is excellent and thus, helps in better judgment. The touchscreen interface has been pilfered from Honda Civic. This pretty much kills the charm of the car. It does not do much justice to the price that the customers are paying for the car.
Driving Experience
The NSX interiors offer a perfect balance between the comfortable ride and performance of the car. Over the long distances, the pipe-in noises grow tiresome and may irritate the passengers. The braking system uses the brake-by-wire technology to give a natural feel to the braking pedal. The emergency braking posted an impressive score of stopping within 100 feet from 60 mph. The steering of the car is accurate and feels natural due to the balance of effort and response. The car offers excellent handling with the firm grip on the ground till the handling capacity of the car.
Safety
The car has been safe with an adequate amount of active safety features. It is equipped with four types of airbags. They are the frontal collision airbags, side impact airbags, overhead airbags, and the knee airbags. Besides the airbags, the other safety features include anti-lock braking system, pretensioners, and security system to detect unwanted activities which are probably related to the theft or intrusion.
